     Dave Fisher has been involved in hunting and the outdoors since he was a small child. Since he has been married, he has raised and trained hundreds of dogs, mostly Beagles for hunting rabbits.

     In 1974 Dave published his first national article about hunting in the National Wild Turkey Federation’s magazine called TURKEY CALL. Soon other publications saw the value of Dave’s work, as a person who just didn’t write about it, he lived the life! Throughout the late 70s and 80s Fisher wrote an outdoor column for the Herald Standard Newspaper in Uniontown, and for a few years also wrote columns for the Greensburg Tribune-Review. Also, while doing the newspaper columns, Dave continued his writing for national magazines. He now has over 500 nationally published articles to his credit.

     In the late 80's with outdoor videos gaining enormous popularity, Dave turned to what he knew best, and made the first real rabbit hunting video in the country. In this video, COTTONTAIL RABBIT HUNTING, Dave tried to capture the feeling of the old time hunts from childhood. It was a great success, and hunters that viewed the tape cried for more. With a great deal of help from his wife, Fisher started a small company called LinDavid Productions, and began work on two more videos, MOSTLY SQUIRRELS, and COTTONTAILS & HARES. A couple years later Dave followed these up with still another video on rabbit hunting called COTTONTAILS AGAIN!

     Most people write a book, then do a video ... not Dave. As soon as the production of COTTONTAILS AGAIN! was completed Dave picked up work on a book he had started four years earlier. In 1992, the book, BEAGLES vs COTTONTAILS was self-published by LinDavid Productions. It was quickly reviewed by the AMERICAN HUNTER magazine and sold out the first printing. The book, BEAGLES VS COTTONTAILS was updated and reprinted and several new chapters were added.  It was reprinted as "Secrets of A Master Cottontail Hunter" by Outdoorsman's Edge Book Club and was their feature book for several months.

     1997 brought yet another book; I’D RATHER BE RABBIT HUNTING. This book is a more personal look at Dave’s hunting career, his love for those special dogs of his, and his 30 year passion and obsession; chasing rabbits.

     In the book, I’D RATHER BE RABBIT HUNTING, Dave covers hunting snowshoe hare on islands in Michigan, cottontail hunting in the eastern states, chapters on some of his beloved Beagles and the "Feel of a Fine Shotgun"; all have the same flavor and are representative of his articles and the contents of the LinDavid videos.

     Dave continues to write hunting and outdoor articles for many publications around the country, still raises many fine hounds, and hunts often! But, rabbit hunting has always been his first love. 

     In hunting circles, at field trials or at most magazine offices Dave Fisher is simply called, "The Rabbit Guy". An editor recently called Dave requesting a few pictures and an article about snowshoe hare hunting. "We were talking here at the office," he said, "And we know YOU know the subject better than any one we could think of!"
